Football Insider has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with a number of Ligue 1 clubs over a loan move for Malachi Fagan-Walcott.

Fagan-Walcott is highly regarded at Spurs, having made his senior debut through Jose Mourinho in the Champions League Round of 16 against RB Leipzig in March 2020.

The centre-back was loaned to Scottish side Dundee FC in January last year but his spell north of the border was cut short by injury.

The teenager has impressed for the Under-23s so far this season, having netted twice in 17 Premier League 2 (Transfermarkt) appearances. Spurs confirmed last month that Fagan-Walcott had signed new terms until 2023.

According to Football Insider, the defender has trained regularly with Antonio Conte’s first team this season and Spurs managers believe he will be better served by going on loan next season.

The North London club have reportedly been in talks over an early loan deal for Fagan-Walcott, with several League One clubs reportedly keen to sign the centre-back.

Boosts web opinion

Fagan-Walcott’s progress has been stunted by injuries over the past two years, but the 19-year-old’s talent is beyond doubt. Playing competitive football for a lower league club would come with its challenges, especially for a centre-back, but the teenager seems equipped to handle them.
