Rooney identifies Spurs advantage

Wayne Rooney has identified a big advantage for Tottenham Hotspur in the race to finish in the Premier League top four and qualify for the Champions League next season.

Spurs are currently in fourth place after their 5-1 win over Newcastle on Sunday, with Arsenal falling to a 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Monday night. Mikel Arteta’s side still have a game in hand against their local rivals, although football.london reports that Rooney believes the lack of experience in the Arsenal squad could hurt his chances of finishing in the top four.

According to Rooney, Spurs ‘have a bit more experience and that could help Tottenham over the line’.

Spurs set to raise £10m

Tottenham could get a £10m boost to their transfer prize pool for the summer window thanks to forgotten man Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The American defender has spent the season on loan at Scottish side Celtic, and was in particularly good form during Sunday’s 2-1 Old Firm derby triumph over bitter rivals Rangers. Carter-Vickers pocketed the winner to extend Celtic’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to six points as fans dream of securing the league title.

And according to football.london, the loan deal contains a clause to make his move permanent for around £6m, although that fee could rise to £10m with add-ons.
